An extended trailer for a Tom Hanks + Halle Berry movie co-directed by the Wachowski Brothers of The Matrix fame

As parislemon says, "This is either going to be epic, or an epic fail. There is no in between."

It's so epic, it needed this epic trailer as well.

LEAKED Official Apple iPhone 5 Promo Video

Apple is expected to announce its latest iPhone iteration in about 3 weeks, and probably have it ready for sale in stores a week after that. Here is a "leaked" "official" promo video of the said product:

Question is, is it really going to be called the iPhone 5? or the iPhone 6? the new iPhone? iPod Wifi+4G? iPhone HD? iPhone 4HD? iPhone 4G? Question is, is it just coincidence that the guy in the above video looks like James Franco in the new Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 ads?

What's faster than a speeding bullet and more powerful than a locomotive?

Technically, there are now plenty of things that are faster than a speeding bullet (Wikipedia), and more powerful than a locomotive (A bullet train perhaps? And many other things). But none of them are fictional superhero characters. Well, the Man of Steel is officially the only one (fictional or otherwise) who is able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. Until they invent a reverse bungee for very tall buildings. Seriously now, check out this official teaser trailer for the 2013 Superman movie, "Man of Steel."

New "Superman" Trailer isn't so impressive, says Conan

LOLZ!

Watch this short film entitled 'Skwerl'

It's actually like a concept (short) film to demonstrate how English sounds like to non-English speakers.

Some people also label it as how American English sounds like to England natives.

Hint: They're not really conversing in English, save for a few common words like "yes," "no," "sure," etc.

32 Accents of the English Language

Yes, it's perfectly normal that we Filipinos and other Asians don't have accents anything close the the American or British accents. But it's perfectly unacceptable that you think your English is better than other non-native English speakers. Anyways, just watch the video, it's kinda funny and a little bit informative as well.

Truly the first LEGOLAND in Asia, OPENS NEXT MONTH!

Did you get it right away from this blog post's title? Ehehe. Check out their website. It's only a 45-minute ride (assuming no traffic, and excluding the immigration check at the Singapore-Malaysia border) from Downtown Singapore.

Tickets are only around PhP 1,900 each for adults, which is not bad, I guess. It's about 400 pesos cheaper than the Universal Studios Singapore tickets, although I'm sure there's less rides (but more LEGO!) and if you're coming from Singapore or KL, there's an added cost because of the transportation expenses plus about an hour of your time. The park opens on September 15, 2012. Visit their website today to purchase tickets in advance and avoid queueing at the entrance gates. I ♥ LEGO!

How many frames per second can the human eye see?

"Frame rate" is the number of pictures/frames per second (fps) that a video captures in, because that is essentially what a video is, a series of pictures. I wanted to find out what frame rate is best for video recording - and viewing and I found this very insightful article on 100fps.com. Basically it depends on what you are shooting, as well as the lighting conditions. At very high fps, less light is absorbed so you need to be shooting with flash or under bright sunlight. I did find out that for movies, 24fps is best.

Play with some computer science magic online

From the website's about page:
Worldwide visitors both online and offline will be able to play live music together, launch data into cyberspace and trace where images on the web actually live, see how robots can see people, and get teleported to unexpected places all over the world.
Yep, it's a huge Google Chrome advertisement. :D But it's really cool, the "ad" and the browser. :D Check it all out at http://www.chromeweblab.com. Best experienced with the Google Chrome browser - you might need to install the Web Lab extension first. It's all happening live from the London Science Museum.

For you geeks (or wanna-be-a-geek-when-you-grow-up types) out there, check out the computer science behind the 5 "Web Lab" experiments:

Warning: For you not so comfortable with the British accent, that's what the narrator in the videos speaks in. But it's not as bad as in the movies.

Also, the videos are essentially like a very basic introduction to computer science. To hopefully get the kids in all of us non-computer-science majors excited.

I❤SF

Miss the place. This sort of brings me back. Of course, there's always Google Maps and Street View. Some of the featured locations in this video are the Golden Gate Bridge of course, Powell Street from the Powell Street Cable Car station to the other end with a view of Alcatraz Island, Lombard Street from the "Crookedest" Street to Coit Tower, Market Street from the Potrero District to the Embarcadero, the Twin Peaks, Union Square, and the City Hall. Check out GIFs of the hypnotizing, vertigo-inducing views of San Fran featured in this video on This is Colossal, where I first saw this video.

Is this the next Chat Roulette?

You got nothing to do. You've got all this weight on your back. You want to tell someone about all your frustrations. You look around. There's no one. So you turn to Omegle, where you can talk to some random stranger, via text chat or video chat. After you've vented out, you both (supposedly) forget about your coincidental encounter on the internet.

Well, I've never really tried this out and probably never will. If I were 15 to 20 years younger, I probably would have, but alas, I am not. If you do try this thing out, please your experiences! WARNING: it is possible that you get a bad person with bad intentions on the other end of the chat. Be careful. This website is not responsible for choices you make, okay. #JustSaying there's this kind of new thing. I first found out about this on wtfshouldidotoday.com. I guess it's more for people who really have nothing else to do at all.

Google will eat itself?

Check this site out. Don't forget to click around (the Exhibitions and Diagrams link). I just really got curious about this. If you understand it, please give me a holler.

Speaking of the Olympics, check out this young athlete's pre-race ritual.

From thedailywhat, about 20 days ago:
Pre-Race Ritual of the Day: Australian Michelle Jenneke, at 19, just might be the world’s most famous hurdler — and it’s all because of a little dance she did last weekend before the 110-meter hurdles at the World Junior Championships in Barcelona.
Ostensibly to loosen up and shake off pre-race jitters, Jenneke’s moves made it online, where  slowed them down and set them to music.
Sure, why not?

Wanna waste time?

Of course not, right? Well, here's a website, that's almost similar to RAW, except they feature only mostly meme-tastic photos. Check it out at this link.

I believe I first found out about this thru wtfshouldidotoday.com.

Have you ever prayed "Dear God, make me a bird, so I can fly far, far far away from here."?

Well, here's one of God's many answers. (Kidding.) But seriously now...

First, press PLAY on the embedded video at the bottom of this post, if it hasn't started playing yet.
Then, click this link.

If only that web app came with sounds, right? That's why I asked you to play that video first. Hehe. Hello Google, how about adding a Street Sounds feature as a complementary service to Street View?

First found out about this on wtfshouldidotoday.com.

View the news in full technicolor

Check out newsola.com, the latest top news at a glance. In full technicolor. No, seriously. There are 6 categories, each assigned a certain color, and each article title is displayed in a certain shade of that category's color. It's quite nice to look at. Has a certain Windows Metro feel-goodiness to it. And it's quite useful, too, most specially for all you news buffs. By default, the site features US-centric news, but there are 13 other countries you can choose to display relevant news for. Hopefully though they introduce more countries soon. And maybe a native app for mobile devices. But the website itself is already great to look at on a mobile device. Lastly, you can also filter by category. There are other services similar to this though, but the ones I know are browser extensions, and for not-so-tech-savvy people (i.e. most people), it's a few extra steps to get that similar feel so this is probably the best one out there, in terms of all the news in one colorful layout.

I found out about this thru wtfshouldidotoday.com, where they refer to the colorfulness as "trucolor."

Bored?

I googled "What can I do today?" and this site and simple web app was first on the list. Really cool web site / web app! I wish I thought of it myself. I must warn you though that it is at least a PG-13 website. The next couple of days, I'll feature stuff I found out about through that website. For now, feast yourselves on this very popular "what can you do today" activity: look at this photo. On other days, if you want to get suggestions as to what stuff you can do, just go visit wtfshouldidotoday.com.

In a sense though, it seems like a competitor to RAW. But, well, not exactly. Even if it were, we all have more than enough free time anyway to consult more than one source for a suggestion as to what things we can do to kill time. :D

Share your iPad, iPhone, and/or iPod Touch home screens to the world

My iPhone homescreen
about half a year ago.
I previously talked about this tumblr blog called "Swipe The Linen," which features people's iOS homescreens. It's basically become a curated blog now; only "special" people's homescreens get featured. But now, this 2-year-old web app called Homescreen.me has gone out of beta to help the braggart in all of us feature our iOS homescreens to the world. No curators/editors. No rejections. They do have a "featured" list, where the site owners feature 5 interesting homescreens (whether because they are interesting themselves or the owners are "interesting"). And they also have a "popular" list, which features the 5 most-viewed homescreens. At the top of that list is obviously the owner of Homescreen.me. And they also have a "new" list where the newest uploads get featured. Plus, your homescreens will have a unique URL like http://homescreen.me/ronjiedotcom. Check out their web app today. Unfortunately, they do not yet have an iOS app per se. I first found out about this on Cult of Mac.

A movie about the fine art of sushi making - official trailer

If you are concerned about the extinction of certain types of fish and other sea creatures (as I am) that are used in sushi, please contact the sushi makers and the film producers directly. :D

Thanks to my friend RB for sharing this link.

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak has $25,000 worth of gadgets in his backpack

Image from Cult of Mac.
Cult of Mac has some articles that present what gadgets their contributors and editors have in their bags. In this article, they present what gadgets Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak has in his backpack. All $25,000 worth of them, and this is not yet including the latest iPhone. But he basically has two iPads, two iPod nanos, three iPhone 4Ses, an iPhone 4, and a MacBook Pro, as well as a Kindle and a number of Android devices. Talk about filthy rich geeky-ness.
