Fighting fire with fire: Using HIV to cure a cancer patient

I worry though about doctors saying "HIV virus." Human immunodeficiency virus virus? But maybe it's just me. ;)

What do you guys think? Would you rather be HIV-free or cancer-free?

Somersby Cider - The Somersby Store #tv #ad #commercial #tvcm

An homage to the world's most profitable store. This drink, by the way, has 4.5% alcohol, if I remember it correctly. It's being positioned as an alternative to beer, a.k.a. "poor man's wine." Sounds familiar, no? Disclaimer: I prefer beer over other alcoholic beverages.

50 Years of James Bond

From Rob Sheridan:
This great fan-made James Bond 50th anniversary montage is way, way better than the one they played at the Oscars.

Galaxy (chocolate) commercial featuring a CGI Audrey Hepburn

Some people found this creepy. Some. Me? It doesn't make me want to buy the chocolate. But maybe I'm just not part of the target market.

Nine Inch Nails goes modern? using background music popularly used by someone named Carly Rae Japsen?

It's actually a mashup of NIN's "Head Like a Hole" and CRJ's "Call My Maybe" minus the Call Me Maybe vocals. It's mostly Trent Reznor, too.

Pretty good.

A Time-Lapse Map of Every Nuclear Explosion Since 1945 - by Isao Hashimoto

By the way, I played this at 2x speed. You can set the play speed by clicking on the gear/options icon when you hover over the video.

Which one is the best Pinoy parody of Oppa Gangnam Style?

Incidentally, all 3 videos above were uploaded to YouTube within the first half of September 2012. Let's see how these guys do with a "Harlem Shake" video.

Asian performs Snoop Dogg's "Drop it like it's hot" beatbox while studying

Since I first heard this song at the end of The Fast & the Furious: Tokyo Drift, I was wondering what was its title and who is the artist (shoulda known it was Snoop Dogg). Meanwhile, I asked around and nobody knew what I was talking about. Here is my answer!

How big is the universe? How small/big are we compared to other things out there? How small is the smallest thing?

This is just one of the coolest thing out there. It's called "The Scale of the Universe." Check it out at

And it was made by a couple of under-15-year-olds. Cool, right?

It's Adobe Flash-based, by the way, so you might not be able to peruse it on certain devices. Here it is embedded, in case you don't to click a link and visit another site:

And yet another pistachios commercial featuring someone familiar...

And this was before he got beat last December. I hope he got million$ for doing this commercial. :D

YouTube does the Harlem Shake!

Just search "Do The Harlem Shake" on the YouTube search bar, wait a few seconds, and then this. :D

I'm not really a fan of this "Harlem Shake" phenomenon, though. Plus, people have said that what people are doing now on YouTube aren't anything like the original Harlem Shake (by P.Diddy), and that people from Harlem are not all so happy about it:

Favorite Super Bowl ads — Honorable Mentions

This one I should probably have put in my top 10, but it... has a little too much of drama for my liking.

And this one, too.

And this.

I can sort of relate to the latter two in some way. I'm no military guy, and I respect all those in the military who are protecting our freedom, but being far away from home and from family and all that... rings a bell.

And lastly, this one, I'm just showing because... I think this shouldn't be in anyone's favorites list, but it's worth talking about: i.e., no one should be making Gangnam-style ads!

Super Bowl 2013 movie ads!

I actually like these better than my #2 to #10 favorite ads, but it's not fair to include them in my top 10 list of favorite Super Bowl 2013 ads. These are big budget films shrunk down to a commercial, and so naturally, they're cooler than the average commercial.

But my number 1 would be this:

Because cars are more realistic than this:

And I'm not really into fantasy, but I like "classics."

Bear surprises Samsung crew on washing machine ad shoot! #nice

But it's actually an ad in itself. A funny one! Nice one, Samsung-hired ad agency! But you know, I think Samsung appliances are pretty good. My first ever TV that I bought myself was a Samsung, and it's still running to this day. I probably won't be buying Samsung gadgets though. Well, except maybe a Chromebook, if the price is right. Or a well-designed future Nexus 7 tablet, if ever Google will get them to make one.

The Banned SodaStream SuperBowl Ad

Banned because CBS (the TV network airing the SuperBowl) wants to protect its two big sponsors, Coke and Pepsi, which are being targeted in this ad.

Wedding video using 3 iPhones! #cool #creative

WARNING: A little rage follows.

Why iPhones and why not Androids (which Android?) for this video? As Android fans would say, iPhone users are dumb! Or, iPhone users are usually old people who know nothing about tech. Or iPhone users are just buying them for the status. Or iPhone users buy them because they're sheep who just follow where the shepherd leads them. So yeah, go ahead and switch to Android, folks, to join the group of young, intelligent people. Very, very intelligent people. They're so intelligent, they know that this is cool not because the guy used iPhones, but it's because the guy who made this video is a creative genius. I wonder though, why a creative genius like him would use iPhones for this. But yeah, he's in it for the status. And/or he doesn't know tech. And/or he -- or maybe a she -- is probably somebody's grandma or grandpa. You see (or actually you probably don't see is that), it's all about personal choices. You criticize my personal choice, you are attacking my person. If that to you is smart of you, well, I hope people in power don't think like you or it will be catastrophic for humanity. Oops, sorry, I'm not being smart.

Cool TV commercial from Japan. Must-watch!

Love the song and the effort they put into making this. I don't know if the product will sell though.

By the way, a comment on YouTube said:
This is an advertisement of a forest-friendly-phone. The forest in the advertisement is a man-made forest and need some maintenance. Many young trees are cut during the process, but those trees don't make a big sale because they cannot used for building houses or making furniture. However, they need money to keep the forest healthy. That is why they made it a phone to make some money, and let people know that keeping healthy forests in Japan cost some money. It said so at the end.
For your further viewing pleasure, here's the "making of" video of the above:

Girl plays three instruments at once?

More like girl plays three instruments... in one song, one after the other! And at most, two at a time! Still amazing, though!

He's pretty funny, too.

But what this really is a mix of different martial arts: Thai boxing, taekwondo, karate, etc. Just what Spidey needs.

Is it Better to Walk or Run in the Rain?

I usually have to choose between biking and walking in the rain. I almost always choose to bike in the rain.

Kalayo - Lumaban Ka! (Official Music Video)

Filipinos love singing, but they usually just sing other people's songs. For aspiring music artists and bands, it's their easy ticket to fame. Revive some old 80's tune. Me -- I salute all Filipino original composers and songwriters. And especially those who write in (one of) our own language(s). Here's one of them.

Wanna eat healthy? Go caveman. Try the caveman diet. This is for real.

I've previously featured a video where a guy describes how carbs from grains and potatoes are bad for you. I've since gone low-carb and have immediately felt the difference -- lost 5 kgs (11 lbs) in just a month and I'm now at a good weight and it's not dangerously going down further.

You know that propaganda that coconut oil is bad for you? Not true.
And that fish has good omega-3 fats? Not if they're farm-raised. In fact, you can get omega-3 from pork and beef, as long as they're from wild pigs and cows (i.e. not fed feeds).
There's so much to learn from this video. Check it out. This one's a good idea to help you with your new year's resolution to reduce weight and eat healthier.
