New rTV documentary channels!

I earlier announced the launch of rTV, our very own "virtual TV set," TV-on-the-web service. It already had 39 channels back then, including "original" programming on the [R] Originals, RAW TV, and R2 channels. From today, we are starting to launch new full-length movie channels, ala HBO. The first three movie channels being launched feature full-length documentaries: the MovieTube Documentaries, MovieTube Hope & Nature, and the MovieTube Unforgotten channels.

"MovieTube" is so named because these are (free) movies hosted on YouTube. For now we started with documentaries, but we will be having Romance & Comedy, Action-Mystery-Suspense-Horror, Kids, Classics & Drama, and Sci-Fi & Fantasy channels as well.

The MT Documentaries is the main documentaries channel, while the Hope & Nature channel features documentaries related to inspirational stories, religion, and nature. The Unforgotten channel features documentaries related to war, including a few martial arts-related documentary films. The main Documentaries channel includes 88 films spanning over 98 hours (more than 4 days). The Hope & Nature channel has 60 videos spanning over almost 69 hours (almost 3 days). The Unforgotten channel hosts 61 videos spanning 62 hours (more than 2.5 days).

Many of the documentaries are by PBS, an American broadcast network that creates original documentaries and educational content, and we thought, why not include a PBS channel on rTV as well. So we did.

Watch this collection of videos that millions have watched and shared on the internet, from Tom Hanks dancing on an en Español US weather report, to US President Barrack Obama showing his baby whispering skills, to a cat that was barking like a dog... until he was caught by his owner and so he went back to meowing... Yes, people. More cat videos! And other animals', too.

By the way. No virii/viruses here, folks. If you don't know what a "viral video" is, you probably haven't visited Wikipedia, ever. So go there first before you watch the video.

Visit SendToDropbox.com [lets you have an e-mail address which will be saved, attachments and all, in a folder on your Dropbox] and URLDroplet.com [lets you save any URL to your Dropbox - HTML files become PDF files, I think!]. Got sent a suspicious link?

Use ExpandMyURL.com to preview or to lengthen short URLs so you know where you're going with that link, preventing nasty link surprises. But, a tool won't be a useful tool until you know when to use it, or how to use it. The how to use it part just requires a little bit of English know-how, among other things you probably already have. The when to use it part - i.e., when to know if a link is suspicious or not - that's just difficult to teach, you know. I for one have never clicked any spam links. Just be smart. Good luck to you all with that.

Is it too annoying to follow @inquirerdotnet on Twitter?

Judge for yourself using the followcost.com tool (i.e. find out what it costs to follow someone or something on Twitter). For example, @inquirerdotnet recently has nearly 200 twitter posts per day. In contrast, the more international @cnn only has no more than 7 posts per day recently. I'm unfollowing @inquirerdotnet. ASAP. You?

The New York Times will now feature a new "game" that will appear together with its iconic crossword puzzle. It's called a A Google A Day. The idea is, you will be given some clues, and then you have to guess the answer. You can use Google, of course.
